![]() One of the things we most love doing here at Three Stone Steps is coming up with new design ideas for the metal art artisans we work with in Haiti. We had this thought that we'd create all these trivets based on flags, probably because we live in a state, Maryland, with such a particularly awesome flag. While it's super fabulous, it's also super complex, and the artists took one look at it and knew they couldn't render it into metal. We kept searching for flags. The flag of the City of Baltimore, the home to our worldwide headquarters, is, sad to say, boring. After viewing loads of Google images of flags, we decided most city and states ones were either just meh or plain bad. (There's a good TED Talk on flag designs right here, by the way.) The flag of the District of Columbia, where, not so coincidentally we spend a lot of time working, is a great looking flag, and a perfect for a trivet. It's above. We don't even bother calling it the "DC flag" trivet, but the "stars and strips" one. (See what we did there?!) Speaking of our nation's capital, we'll be peddling our fine metal art wares at Eastern Market this Saturday and Sunday and various weekend days this summer and beyond. Would love for you to drop by.
