As with our metal art Om, this oil drum art of a hamsa or hand of Fatima (or many other names), generates much conversation. We wanted a symbol in our collect that had meaning in both Judaism and Islam.
When we first worked on this piece with a metal artisan, we initially had a design with fingers pointing downwards. While most people were happy, there were some who believed this metal hamsa should have the fingers pointing up. And, we managed to make both camps happy! Working again with the artist, we recreated our our drum hamsa with hooks on two sides of the piece. So, display with the fingers pointing up. Display this oil drum art with fingers pointing down. Change it up depending on your mood. It’s easy.
