Even More Test Shots

It was a perfect overcast day for photography with my little point and shoot camera, so I decided to try out more photos in context.

All these items are from the Philippines, and should--fingers crossed, diety of your choice willing--will be here at Three Stone Steps by next week.

(This cute lime green bag is made from abaca, and lined with a used industrial plastic sack. The very sweet abaca flower is sold separately.)

Dangles made with bamboo, coconut bead, and some seed. They'll be available in many hip and fun colors.


I'm least happy with this photo, although not with the product, which is a cute, summery clutch made out of seagrass, and line with recycled flour sacks.

Well, there you have it. Some new products shot in some new context. We'll see just what I'll end up doing with these photos when I get ready to load them to my site.

One of my Favorites from Haiti

I found this fantastically wonderful, amazing beaded bag in Haiti. I have one in red, too, and it's below, but the blue is my favorite.They have great faces, and none of my existing bags have faces. In fact, none of the scarves have faces.

I'm selling these. They aren't on Three Stone Steps, but I'm selling them live, as we speak, in DC, at the Downtown Holiday Marketplace, in front of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art/National Portrait Gallery. I just, quite blissfully, have the day off.

The fashion accessories I sell are there, too. I have those great mosquito netting bags, in the cross body, messenger, and shoulder bag styles. I have those silk scarves that are affordable luxury, but I have noticed how people just look at my buddies, Le Roi.

On the road again....

....well, not quite. Right about now I was supposed to be in Phnom Penh, looking for more fun to funky fairly traded and eco-chic goods, yet I am in my kitchen in beautiful Baltimore, Maryland USA.

The night before my flight I was knocked out my the norovirus. Now, this wasn't fun, in fact, I can't remember when I've been taken down by an illness.

In any event, this isn't a rant about some nasty virus, but rather to let you know that I'm still around, but this weird downtime has given me some clarity regarding what new things I'll be looking for.

But, first, I'm going to make my existing items even better. Prepare to see the cotton travelers bags with new longer and wider straps, and some new, shapes. Look for new colors in the gorgeous Angkor silk screen shoulder bag. It's coming along.

I'm hoping to bring back some man purses. Ok. Don't snicker. A man bag. The hard sided briefcase has gone the way of dial-up and cassette tapes, or so has been proclaimed by the Wall Street Journal when they wrote about the Death of the Brief Case. In any event, this sort of makes me sad in the sort of way that no longer having carpools makes me sad. The briefcase reminds me of my father and just seemed so handy. But, I can't say I blame men for wanting a hand's free way to take work to and fro. (I guess I really wish people didn't have to take work home from the office, but that's for another post.)

I also plan to look for more items in sustainable fabrics, like hemp and bamboo, and innovative recycled items.

More bags and wallets, and in record time

I'm happy to report that I received a new shipment of the great mosquito net messenger, laptop, and travelers bags and wallets from Cambodia. And, it arrived in record time.

There are great colors for fall and winter, including O's orange traveler's bags, just a perfect accessory as you go trick or treating. Also, laptop bags in green, iridescent, copper, and silver.

It's always so exciting when the boxes arrive. Please take a look!
